Marcus Hougen

Director Quality Assurance & Quality Improvement

Marcus came to NPRS with nearly two decades of Emergency Service experience. Starting as a volunteer fire fighter and operating as an adjunct fire instructor for Delaware County, NY, and working in the Margaretville Hospital Emergency Department, Marcus quickly moved into EMS as he found the work to be his passion. Marcus has gained a wealth of knowledge and experience from working with multiple ground-based EMS agencies including Cooperstown Medical Transport for 7 years and Mobile Life Support Services for 10 years amongst other agencies across NY and PA. In addition, Marcus has had the pleasure of working with the Critical Care Transport Team for the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania (PennStar) in Philadelphia and also as a Flight Paramedic servicing the Navajo Nation in AZ, NM, CO and UT.

Currently Marcus is working as a road provider for New Paltz Rescue Squad as well as the Director of the QA/QI department to ensure that the best possible care is being provided for our residents and guests in New Paltz and the surrounding areas which we serve. When not working Marcus can be found on a golf course or spending time at home with his wife and three children, watching football (Go Birds!), hockey, BBQ’ing or jumping on the trampoline.
